American whaler Konohasset wrecked according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 1 August 1846

An item reported the day before of a small sloop coming from Pell’s Island with on board the captain and six crew members of the whaler Konohasset 5 months out with no oil which was wrecked on 24 May on the reef extending from that island. She was wrecked around 17 miles away from the position where in 1844 the Holder Borden was lost. Materials from the wreck were used to built the 8 tons sloop named Konohasset Jr. within 8 days, departing on 20 June leaving 24 men behind.
