An item reported that the British cruiser 1stt class HMS Sutlej visited Sabang, Dutch East Indies between 9-10 January 1905.(1)

1. Part of the Cressy-class armoured cruisers, preceded by the Diadem-class and succeeded by the Drake-class. Laid down by John Brown&Company, Clydeside, Scotland on 15 August 1898, launched on 18 November 1899, completed on 6 May 1902, accommodation ship since 1917, renamed as depot ship Crescent in January 1918 , renamed Sutley in 1919, sold on 9 May 1921 and scrapped in 1924. Sabang was at that moment an important coal depot station.
