An item reported that the Vichy French forces on the Oronjia Peninsulka, Madagascar surrendered and on the 6th a British naval force entered the harbour of Diego Suarez [harbourtown, since 1975 called Antsiranana, Madagascar). British aircraft destroyed 2 enemy tankers.(1)

1. Diego-Suarez was on 5 May 1942 the start point for the Allied forces capturing Madagascar preventing Japan taking over the island to be used for attacking allied shipping. This was Operation Ironclad. The whole island was captured between 5 May-6 November 1942 and. Among the Allied forces were also the Royal Netherlands and Polish navies.
