American whaler Clay visited the Table Bay, South Africa according to the according to the newspaper The Cape of Good Hope Gazette dated Friday 12 February 1836

An item reported the arrival in the Table Bay, South Africa on 6 February of the American whaler Clay master C. Church which left Lynn, USA on 18 June 1835 on a whaling cruise. Loaded with 1.100 barrels oil. Put in for refreshments. Shipping agent was US consul Isaac Chase.
