American whaling bark Gentleman visited South Africa according to the The Cape of Good Hope Almanac and Annual Register for 1846

An item reported the arrival in the Simon’s Bay on 11 April 1845 by the American whaling bark Gentleman with a tonnage of 270 tons, master W.L. Payne, coming from whaling and departing on 5 May for whaling.
