British sloop HMS Auckland sunk according to the Dutch newspaper Soerabaijasch handelsblad dated 15 July 1941

An item dated London, England 14th July referred to a statement of the British Admiralty that the corvette Auckland of 1.200 tons and completed in 1938 was sunk.

Note

1. L61. Of the Egret-class sloops, preceded by Bittern-class, succeeded by Black Swan-class, launched by Denny, Dumbarton, Scotland on 30 June 1938, commissioned on 16 November 1938 and sunk on 24 June 1941 in an air attack underway towards Tobruk, Libya.
