Australian gunboat HMVS Albert 1884-1917

Launched by Messrs. Wm. Armstrong, Mitchell&Co. Ltd., Elswich, Newcastle-on-Tyne, England on 6 June 1883, commissioned on 24 June 1884, decommissioned on 20 May 1895, sold to the Victorian Public Works Department on 10 April 1897, used for towing and other purposes in the harbour and afterward as blasting ship in dredging activities, during the First World War part of the Royal Australian Navy and at the Cuckatoo Dockyard at Sydney converted into a naval tug, uneconomical and since September 1917 listed to be disposed was she sold and converted into a fuel lighter to be used in the harbour of Sydney. Flat-iron type gunboat of the Australian colony of Victoria. Displacement 350 tons and as dimensions 35,05 x 7,62 x 2,89 metres or 115 x 22 x 9.5 feet.
