A Type 40 torpedo boat or Flottentorpedoboot. Building ordered by the Kon. Mij. De Schelde, Vlissingen, Netherlands on 19 November 1940 (date of delivery was 1 May 1943 if the double bottom material available in June 1941), laid down in the Island storehouse on 1 December 1942, 1st boiler placed on 11 January 1944, second boiler on 13 January 1944 and 3rd boiler on 14 January 1944, launched by werkmeister Krüger on 8 July 1944 and towed towards Rotterdam via inland waterways on 6 September 1944. According to internet sources towed to Elbing, Germany and or scuttled on 2 July 1946 or broken in or after 1946.
Dimensions 110 (between perpendiculars)-117,753 (over all) x 11,20 x 6,50 (height below B-deck) x 3,62 metres and a displacement of 1,100 (launching)-1,957 (Washington displacement)-2,601 (full loaded) tons. Armament 4-x1-12,7cm/5” guns, 2x2-3.7cm/1.5” anti aircraft guns, 4x4-2cm/0/8” anti aircraft machine guns, 2x4-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes, 4 depth charge launchers and 50 mines. Range 2,100 miles/19 knots. Two screws. Speed 35 knots with 49,500 ahp horsepower. Propulsion consisted of 2 turbines and 3 water tube boilers.
The yard numbers 225 (T 66, date of delivery 1 September 1943) and 226 (T 67, date of delivery 1 January 1944) were cancelled. Internet sources suggested the T 66 was destroyed still on stocks and broken up.
