Portuguese sloops Republica and Carvalho Aranjo underway towards Portugal according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 2 dated 15 January 1921

An item reported that the Portuguese sloops Republica and Carvalho Aranjo- the former British HMS Gladiolus (1) respectively Jonquil (2) -departed on 14 January Devonport, England bound for Lisbon, Portugal.

Notes

1. Arabis-class minesweeping sloop, preceded by Azalea-class, succeeded by Aubrietia class, launched by Charles Connell and Company, Scotsoun, Scotland on 25 October 1915, sold to Portugal on 10 March 1920, classified in Portuguese service as the cruiser NRP República and discarded in 1943.

2. Acacia-class minesweeping sloop, launched by Charles Connell and Company, Scotstoun, Scotland on 12 May 1915, sold in May 1920 to Portugal and served as the NRP Carvalho Araújo until she was discarded in 1959.
