An item reported that the Scindia Steam Navigation Company, Bombay, India bought from the USA 5 Liberty ships and the India Steamship Company, Calcutta, India 6 Victory ships. All ships were to be renamed each with the suffix Jala. Exceprt for their captains were the ships to be crewed by Indians.
