Brazilian battleship Rio de Janeiro redesigned according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1911-1912 no. 5

Minas Geraes-class

Rio de Janeiro which finally became the HMS Agincourt

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau reporting that the design for the 32.000 ton Brazilian battleship Rio de Janeiro was to be exchanged for that of the Minas Geraes and San Paulo in order to spare a part of the budget which was to be used for building a Bahia-class cruiser.(1)

Note

1. The Minas Geraes-class had a displacement of 19,281 (normal)-21,200 (full load) tons. The Rio de Janeiro laid down by Armstrong Whitworth, Elswick on 16 March 1910, cancelled on 7 May 1910, rebuilt to a new design, laid down on 14 September 1911, sold to the Ottoman Empire in December 1913, next as the Sultan Osman-I Evvel seized by the United Kingdom in August 1914 and completed as the HMS Agincourt with a displacement of 28,300 (load)-31,360 (deep load) tons.
