An item dated Paris, France 29th referred to a statement of Daladier (1) reporting that France was building a third 35.000 tons battleship.(1)

2. Probably of the Richelieu-class fast battleships of 37,850 (standard)-44,698 (full load) tons preceded by Dunkerque-class succeeded by the planned Alsace-class. Of the Dunkerque-class fast battleships 26,500 (standard)-35,500 (deepload) tons were just 2 units built. The Georges Clemenceau of the Richelieu-class, standard displacement 36,000 (35,000 long tons) was laid down by Arsenal de Brest on 17 January 1939 but never completed.
