Bussard-class preceded by Schwalbe-class succeeded by SMS Gefion. Laid down by the Kaiserliche Werft at Wilhelmshaven, Germany in 1893, launched on 18 October 1894, commissioned on 24 October 1895, seized by the USA at Honolulu, Hawaii on 6 April 1917, commissioned in the US Navy as USS Schurz and sunk in a collision off the North Carolina coast on 21 June 1918.
