Laid down by Osaka Iron Works Ld., Osaka, Japan on 3 December 1936, launched on 19 April 1937, completed on 30 June 1937, requisitioned by the navy as auxiliary transpor ton 11 April 1941,and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Gudgeon (SS-211) of the Truk Atoll on 3 August 1942 and stricken on 25 August 1942. Gross register tonnage 4,858 tons, net tonnage 2,896 tons, deadweight 6,983 tons and as dimensions 369.8 x 54.1 x 29.2 x 8 (light) 24 (loaded) feet. Horsepower 379 nhp, coal bunker capacity 782 ton, range 6,600 nautical miles/13 knots and speed 12 (normal cruising)-15 (maximum) knots.
