An item reported that on 26 November by the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Company the 370 ton submarine chaser Hayabusa was launched, the first unit of a series of 8 authorised under the 1955-1956 Budget allocation. She was laid down in March 1956.
Note
1. Jane’s Fighting Ships 1958-1959 said that she was built under the 1954 Fiscal Programme, laid down on 23 May 1956, launched on 29 November and completed in 1957 PC 308 and called her a gas turbine type. Seven other submarine chasers PC 301-306 built under the 1954 Fiscal Programme were diesel type submarine chasers with a standard displacement of 330 instead of 370 tons.
