Call sign JWJD. Built by Union Iron Works Co., Alameda, USA in April 1917 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Cobia west of Chichi Jima on 18 July 1944 whilse serving as troop transport. As Bessa and Binna Norway-flagged, as Binna call sign LETA. Gross tonnage 7,786-7,815 (as Binna) tons, under deck 7,422 tons, net tonnage 5,847 tons, deadweight tons 11,650 tons and as dimensions 410.9 x 56.2 x 38.4 x 9.7 (light)-30.5 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, bunker coal capacity 1,200 tons, range 6,480 nautical miles/9 knots and speed 9 (normal cruising)-10 (maximum) knots.
