The German embassy at Tokyo, Japan wrote on 28 October 1935 to the Chef der Marineleitung at Berlin referring to the Japanese monthly magazine Yushu that the auxiliary river gunboat Kotsu, part of the riverine flotilla, built in 1903, tonnage 150 tons, speed 14.5 miles, flatt-bottomed and an armament of (anti aircraft) guns, machineguns, search lights and wireless devices.
