An item dated Hong Kong 2 July reported that under the losses of the German contingent part of the allied forces commanded by vice admiral Seymour (1) were the captains Buchholz (2) and Von Usedom (3) of the cruisers respectively SMS Kaiserin Augusta (4) and Hertha (5). In China was Boxer Rebellion, Boxer Uprising- Yihetuan Movement between 1899-1901 going on.

1. Sir Edward Hobart Seymour (30 April 1840 Kinwarton, Warwickshire-2 March 1929 Maidenhead, Berkshire), served in the Royal Navy between 1852-1910 ending his career in the Admiral of the Fleet.
2. Oltmann Buchholz was first officer and killed on 22 June 1900 in the Chiku arsenal.
3. Guido von Usedom (2 October 1854 Quanditten, East Prussia-24 February 1925 Schwerin, Schwerin-Mecklenburg) served in the German Imperial Navy between 1871-1918 ending his career in the rank of admiral.
4. Protected cruiser preceded by Victoria Louise-class, laid down by Germaniawerft, Kiel, German in 1890, launched on 15 January 1892,commissioned on 17 November 1892, stricken on 1 October 1919 and broken up in 1920.
5. Part of Victoria Louise-class protected cruisers preceded by Kaiserin Augusta succeeded by Fürst Bismarck, laid down by AG Vulcan, Stettin, Germany in October 1895, launched on 14 April 1897, commissioned on 23 July 1898, stricken on 6 December 1919 and broken up in 1920.
