Laid down by Kure Naval Arsenal, Kure, Japan on 1 April 1924, renamed I-53 on 1 November 1924, launched on 5 August 1925. completed and commissioned on 30 March 1927, renamed I-153 on 20 May 1942, hulked on 31 January 1944, laud up on 15 August 1945, surrended to the Allies in 1945, stricken on 30 November 1945, scuttled as gunnery target on 8 May 1946 or broken up in 1948.
