Former whale factory at Whalers Bay, Deception Island

Part of the South Shetland Islands. Since 1904 was South Georgia an whaling industry active and since 1906 was the whaler Gobernador Bories stationed in Whalers Bay. The ship was property of the Norwegian-Chilean whaling company Sociedad Ballenera de Magallanes. Two years later declared the British Government that Deception Island was part of te Falkland Islands Dependencies. In 1912 was by the Norwegian company Hvalfangerselskabet Hektor A/S Hektor Station founded. I 1931 ended the Hektor factory her activities. The remains are still visible.
