Sale of 1/64 part in the Dutch Davis Strait whaler Josua in 1756

Sale on 13 March 1756 of 1/64 part in the Dutch ship Josua on an auction in the Otter, Westzaandam by ship brokers Jacob Last, Jacob van Santen, Pieter Last and Maarten Nomen to be paid within 8 days in cash to the guardians of the minor children of the late Meyndert Arentsz Bloem. Rented by Sijmon Willemsz Spiers for ƒ 4,100 and ƒ 50 each whale. Commandeur Cornelis Winder. Fluytship, built in 1752, dimensions 111 x 29 x 13 feet.

Cornelis Winder was Greenland commandeur between 1745-1747 and 1758-1761 and Davis Strait between 1749-1757 and 1762-1764. In 1756 for Meyndert Hoffenaar, Zaandam, catch results 5 whales 210 barrels blubber 310 quardelen oil.
