Japanese naval forces in the Philippines-Dutch East Indies area to be strenghtened according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 20 January 1942

An item reported that there were strong indications that the Japanese naval concentration at Truk was to be added to the 2nd and 3rd Fleets active in the Philippines-Dutch East Indies area. Kure and Bako served for this purpose as convoy centers. Other convoy centers were Sasebo and Camranh Bay for Malaya and Yokosuka for the Mandates.
