Merchant ships could request reduce or waive Portuguese port fees in October 1940

In his letter dated Lisbon dated 3 November 1940 No. 890 to the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine wrote the German Marineattaché Portugal that according to the newspapers Seculo, Diario de Lisboa and Diario de Noticias, Lisbon, dated 30-31 October the Portuguese cabinet decided that all merchant ships visiting a Portuguese colony in case of emergency due to the war could request the governor to reduce or waive the port fees.
