Part of Tribal-class or Afridi-class (32 planned 27 completed 5 cancelled) preceded by I-class succeeded by J-class. Design based on the so-called Design V small fleet cruiser, which design was also used for the Dido-class light cruisers. Ordered on 19 June 1936, laid down by Alexander Stephen and Sons, Linthouse, Scotland on 24 September 1936, launched on 17 December 1937, commissioned on12 October 1938 and sunk during a raid on Tobruk, Libya on 14 September 1942.
