According to tidings from the British consul at Lisbon dated 13 June was the expedition fitted out by Don Miguel to capture Terceira completed. The squadron consisted of 2 frigates, 3 corvettes, 3 brigs and 4 transports. The probably departure from the Taag was 14 June.
The British merchant ship Ocean master Locke was hold up by the Portuguese frigate Perola 15 June while going from Terceira towards Portsmouth. Some armed Portuguese sailors went on board of her and seized letters from Portuguese inhabitants of Terceira destined to their fellow-country men at England. The Perola was one of the ships ordered by Don Miguel to blockade Terceira.
