St. Petersburg, Russia, 16 June 1827. The newspapers in this city published a large account of the visit of the emperor 10-11 June. The first day he went on board of his sloop, which was towed by a steamboat from Oranjeboom towards the Russian squadron and visited the ships Azoff, Hangorud and Emmanuel and the frigate Constantin. The next day the emperor returned with grand duke Michael and the rest of the imperial family visiting again the squadron commanded by admiral Seniavine, consisting of 9 ships of the line, 14 frigates and some smaller vessels. The news item further stated that since yesterday Kronstadt was visited by a large amount of steamboats and other vessels and that the imperial yacht, towed by a steamboat, left Petershof 15.00 and by arrival with large enthusiasm greeted by the people. After passing the line of ships with the crews in the rigging, the emperor went on board of the frigate Russia, where the imperial standard was hoist. A four times salute by 2.000 guns of a heavy calibre was fired. The next visit of the emperor and the grand duke was again to the Azoff. What intentions of what destination this fleet had, was still unknown according to the Russian newspapers. Strangely enough published a Swedish newspaper a day earlier what the destination was ! In the unknown future was the battle at Navarino against the Ottoman navy to be awaited.
