Belgian merchant ships interned in Spain according to the Dutch newspaper De Gooi- en Eemlander dated 28 June 1940

An item dated Madrid 27 June reported the arrival of six armed Belgian transports at Bilbao. The Spanish authorities interned crews and ships. Further more arrived the American ship Meckeerport chartered by the American Red Cross to evacuate USA civilians back to the USA.
