French-British negotiations dealing with the naval treaty according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 9 April 1930

An item dated London 8 April reported that the British and French delegations had a meeting during 1½ hour in the chamber of the premier in the House of Commons in which Briand (1) the results of the meetings at Paris reported and MacDonald (1) the discussions during Briand’s absence. A new meeting on 9 April at 17.00 o’clock was agreed with the intentions to discuss the available means to realize the five powers treaty.(3)

1. The French statesman Aristide Briand (28 March 1862 Nantes-7 March 1932 Paris) which was eleven times prime minister of France? In the period 1926-1932 was he minister of foreign affairs.
2. James Ramsay MacDonald (12 October 1866 Lossiemouth-5 November 1037 at sea while on board of the Reina del Pacific), Labour Politian, prime minister in the periods 22 January-4 November 1924 and 5 June 1929-7 June 1935.
3. The London Naval Treaty was signed on 22 April 1930 (ratifications on 27 October) between England, Japan, France, Italy and the USA with the intension to regulate (future submarine) warfare and to limit naval shipbuilding.
