The brigantine Rotte and the sloop Susanna Catharina brought letters from this destination towards Batavia dated 31 March and 18 April. The sloop and the ship Beekvliet transported 25 August a cargo towards this destination valued fl. 271.391. The Proostwijk, which was destined towards Bengal, transported stores valued fl. 141.816 towards this destination.
First mate Jan Herk and the quartermaster of the pantjalang Talmerijen were killed by the Buginese crewmembers. The other Europeans on board were locked up in the hold and twice fired at. Everything of value was stolen. The vessel was saved by the sloop Susanna Catharina. The Rotte brought the asked stores, 2000 rijksdaalders in cash and 1000 lb gunpowder towards Baros. A request for men to persuade the civilians of Natal to return the stores salvaged from the pantjalang Baros was refused by lacking enough personnel. Ordered was tot try if the assurante Nattaresen and the sabandhaar Intje Ibrahim could interfere.
