the submarine sheds on the North shore on 8 March 1913, launched on 15 November
1913, berthed trials on 30 December 1913, technical trial on 14-21 January
1914, official trial off Den Helder, Netherlands on 11 March 1914, departed on
14 March 1914 towards Den Helder, Netherlands, repaired at the Kon. Mij. De
Schelde 24 August-11 September 1918, boiler exploded on 11 January 1919, dry
docked at Vlissingen 12-30 January 1919, repairs completed on 12 July 1919 and
finally sold around 1927?
Dimensions 49,5 (over all) x
5,20 x 1,41 x 2,90 (hold) metres or 163’4” x 16’11”x 4’6” x 9’6” and a
displacement of 180 tons. Her crew numbered 27 men. The armament consisted of
2-7,5cm no. 4 guns and 3-45cm torpedo guns. Two masts. Two funnels. Range 8
hours full speed or 1.300 miles with a speed of 10 knots. Coal bunker capacity
44 cubic metres or 42 tons. Weight completed hull 67,5 ton, armament 11,8 ton
and equipment crew 22 ton. Fitted out with 1 triple expansion 3 cylinder engine
of 2.750 ihp. During the trial with a displacement of 165 ton and 3.057 hp was
a speed of 26,6 miles achieved;’contracted speed 25 miles. Fitted out with 2
Yarrow waster tube boilers nrs. WP 133 and 134. Costs when fitted out for the
first time ƒ 332.400.
