Dutch navy officer J.H.M.Jansen sent to Berlin, Germany to test torpedo material for protected corvette Hr. Ms. Sumatra according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated 20 July 1890


An item reported that lieutenant 1st class J.H.M. Jansen (1) of the navy torpedo department at Amsterdam, Netherlands was sent to Berlin, Germany to test the torpedo material manufactured by the Berliner Maschinebau Actiën Gesellschaft to be used for the Dutch protected corvette Hr. Ms. Sumatra.

1. Josef Hendrik Mathias Jansen (Vlodorp, Netherlands 20 February 1852), with pension in the rank of captain on 1 August 1903.
2. Laid down at the Koninklijke Fabriek van Stoom- en andere Werktuigen, Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1888, launched 26 April 1890 and sold to be broken up in 1907.
