An item reported that in in the merchant harbour of Lepaya, Latvia MTBs of the Elco-class (1) were stationed however on the rear platform was the anti aircraft armament lacking. Some boats belonged to the Soviet Navy while others to the Border Guard. Further more were MTB’s looking similar to the Higgings-class (2) were in the same harbour stationed again some of the Soviet Navy and others of the Border Guard.

1. Elco-class were PT boats or torpedo armed fast attack craft in the Second World War used by the USA produced by the Elco Naval Division, Nayonne, New Jersey with a length of 24 meter/80 feet. Armament consisted of 53cm//21” torpedo tubes and 2 twin 12,7mm/0.50” M2 anti aircraft machine guns.
2. Higgins-class were PT boats or torpedo armed fast attack craft in the Second World War used by the USA produced by Higgins Industrie, New Orleans, USA similar to the Elco-class.
