Russian Murmansk
USS Omaha
An item reported that Russia was expected to return the American cruiser USS Milwaukee which was lent to her for protection of the North Atlantic convoys. In the meantime she was renamed Murmansk and at the end of the month to be handed to the US Navy over off the coast of Delaware, USA.(1)

Part of the Omaha-class light cruisers consisting of the Omaha, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Raleight, Detroit, Richmond, Concord, Trenton, Marblehead and Memphis, preceded by the Chester-class and succeeded by the Brooklyn-class. Building awarded on 27 August 1917, laid down at Todd Dry Dock&Construction Company on 13 December 1918, launched by Mrs. Rudolph Pfeil on 24 March 1922, commissioned on 20 June 1923, loaned to the Soviet Union between 20 April 1944 and renamed Murmansk, returned to the USA on 16 March 1949 and sold to the American Shipbreakers Incorporation, Wilmington, Delaware, USA to be broken up in 10 December 1949.
