Russian government still sending troops too the Far East according to the Dutch newspaper Tilburgsche courant dated 31 December 1899

An item referred to tidings received from Odessa, Ukraine that despite the recently extreme heavy storms the Russian cabinet continued with regularly sending troops towards the Far East. The cruiser Ekaterinoslaf (1) embarked 1.000 soldiers while the cruiser Moskawa (2) as soon as she was completed was to embark a large number of cossacks.

1. Ekaterinoslav of the Volunteer Fleet, built in 1896, capured in 1904 by Japanese navy, renamed as naval auxiliary Karasaki in 1905, hulked at Kure in 1939, broken up in 1946.

2. Moskva of the Volunteer Fleet, built as Kinfauns Castle at Glasgow, Scotland in 1879, purchased in 1884 and renamed Moskva, in 1895 part of the Russian Imperial navy, converted into a training ship and renamed Prut, in 1909 converted into a minelayer and sunk by the Turkish battle cruiser Yavuz Selim or scuttled by her own crew in the Black Sea on 12 November 1914.
