Whaling brig Esther visited South Africa according to the The Cape of Good Hope Almanac and Annual Register for 1846

The New Pictorial and Illustrated Family Magazine established for the diffusion of useful knowledge, 

vol. III. Robert Sears editor, New York 1846.

An item reported the arrival in the Table Bay on 18 February 1845 by the whaling brig Esther with a tonnage of 284 tons, master R.L. Williams, coming from the Island of Desolation on 11 January and departing on 6 February.
