An item dated London, England 23 October reported that the British field marshal Montgomery on a lunch at London organized by the Naval League stated that Japan was building a 65,000 tons cargo submarine. He predicted that in the future all cargo ships would be submarines and that nuclear energy and weapons change wars. The British Admiralty was quite sceptical and denied all knowledge but supposed Montgomery had special sources.(1)
