The American naval attache at Rome, Italy reported on 22 October1940 No. 568-40 referring to the reliable source signor “X” who reported that the Italian navy was assembling at Taranto and to depart in the evening of 24 October with the intention to attack on the morning of 25 October Corfu, Greece. Large numbers of parachutists were assembled with ships and supplies at Taranto and Bari. All plans were set and to put into operation when desired. The plan was definitely for the morning of 25 October but could be delayed for technical reasons as late on the 28th. F-3 commented attack actually in the morning of the 2th.
