Danmark and the armed neutrality policy in 1780

In February 1780 reported the Mercurius that there were rumours dealing with a Triple Alliantie to preserve the neutrality at sea. Some people claimed that there was already a so called treaty signed between Russia, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Just like the Russian navy, Danmark sent a squadron towards the North Sea. Commanded by vice-admiral Schindel, departed 8 August the next ships for the North Sea: the Justitia (1), 74 guns, Prinses Sophia Frederica (2), 74 guns, Jutland (3), 70 guns, Prins Frederik (4), 70 guns, Indogenaat-recht (5), 64 guns, Wagren (6), 64 guns, Dannebrog (7), 60 guns, Groenland (8), 50 guns and the frigates Kronenburg (9), 36 guns, Kiel (10), 36 guns and Alzen (11) with 20 guns and 10 falconets.
