-Between November-March off Tristan de Cunha.

-Between January-March off Crozetts and Desolation Islands

-Between October-March off the south coast of New Holland

-Between February-October in the Japan Sea

-Between May-September on the Kodiak grounds

-Between March-November as soon as the sea is ice free in the Ochotsk Sea.

American whaler Mary and Martha visited Honolulu, Hawaii according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 11 September

An item reported the arrival at Honolulu, Hawaii on 7 September of the American whaler Mary and Martha master Slocum coming from Kodiak 500 barrels whale oil. She had no news about the whaling fleet. Around 1 July between 12:00-24.00 o’clock a boatsteerer deserted from his watch with his boat’s crew around 175 miles from Queen Charlotte’s Island well prepared in advance. Rudder problems forced the Mary and Martha to depart earlier from the grounds to avoid a possible disaster.
