Dutch Greenland commandeur Simon Jansz Hart captured by French according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated 8 September 1703

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 7 September reported the recent arrival in the Vlie or at Texel of Dutch Greenland whalers. Leaving the ice they heard about the war with France and went not to the rendezvous but straight home. They were informed by other ships that the French captured the Dutch Greenland commandeur Simon Hart.

Dutch Greenland whaler ’t Raedhuys van Uytgeest returned home according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated Tuesday 11 September 1703

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 10 September reported the arrival last Friday at Texel, Netherlands escorted by the Dutch naval captains Zels, Schaep and Van den Bosch who picked up at sea the Dutch Greenland whaler ’t Raedhuys van Uytgeest commandeur Klaes Poot 5,5 whale.

Dutch Greenland commandeur Dirk Tysz returned home according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated 29 November 1710

 

An item dated Amsterdam 28 November reported that on last Tuesday the Dutch Greenland commandeur Dirk Tysz (1) arrived in the Vlie with on board the crew of commandeur Simon Hart (2) which latter ship was lost in Greenland. Tysz was struck in the ice until 10 October, and stayed afterwards 14 days at Iceland.
