Launched by by Deutsche Schiff- und Maschinenbau AG Weser, Bremen, Germany with yard number 891 on 14 December 1934, completed in 1935, commissioned on 3 May 1935, sold to Japan in 1942, converted into the aircraft carrier Shinyo using steel of the fourth never completed Yamato-class battleship starting in September 1942, commissioned o 15 December 1943 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Spadefish in the Yellow Sea on 17 November 1944. Gross tonnage 18,184 tons, under deck 13,618 tons, net tonnage 10,712 tons and as dimensions 625.6 x 74.1 x 41.0 x 29 (loaded) feet. Turbo-electric propulsion, two screws, horsepower 26,00 ship, oil bunker capacity 3,200 tons and speed 20 (normal cruising)-23 (maximum) knots.

Duthie&Company, Seattle, USA for the US Shipping Board Merchant Fleet Corporation with USSB No. 1480 in January 1920, seized by the Japanese in 1941, requisitioned by the army as troop transport in 1943 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Tang in the Yellow Sea on 30 June 1944. Gross tonnage 5,802 tons, under deck 5,113 tons, netto tonnage 3,639 tons and as dimensions 410.3 x 54.2 x 27.7 x 8 (light)-23 (loaded) feet. Speed 9 (normal cruising)-11 (maximum) knots. Japanese passenger-cargo ship Venice Maru 1920-1942

Call sign JANA. Laid down by Kawasaki Dockyard Co. Ld., Kobe, Japan with yard number 477 on 14 August 1920, launched on 22 April 1921, completed on 13 June192, chartered by the army to be used as troop transport July 1937-1938, requisitioned by the army and became troop transport IJA No. 948 on 20 November 1941, returned to owners on 7 June 1942 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Haddock (SS-231) in the Yellow Sea off Qingdao, China on 11 November 1942. Gross tonnage 6,571 tons, under deck 6,157 tons, net tonnage 4,013 tons and as dimensions 405.0 x 53.0 x 37.0 x 9 (light)-28 (loaded) feet.

Launched by A.&J. Inglis, Glasgow, Scotland with yard number 272 for the British India Steam Navigation Company on 4 September 1902, completed on 28 November 1902, troop transport in 1914 and sunk in a collision in the Yellow Sea on 14 June 1944. Call sign JYWA. Gross tonnage 3,930 tons, under deck 3,141 tons, net tonnage 2,379 tons, deadweight 3,200 tons and as dimensions 373.0 x 45.2 x 26.5 x 25 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, one screw. 899 nhp and speed 14 (normal cruising)-16 (maximum) knots. 

Japanese cargo ship Luna 1907-1915, Gonzaga 1915-1926, Daifuku Maru 2926-1938) Daihuku Maru 1938-1943

Launched by Clyde Shipbuilding&Engineering Co. Ltd., Castle Works, Port Glasgow, Scotland with yard number 277 on 23 November 1907 and torpedoed by the American submarine USS Snook in the Yellow Sea on 5 May 1943. As Luna Italy-flaggd, homeport Trieste. Call sign JIJB. Gross tonnage 3,184 tons, under deck 2,570 tons, net tonnage 2,257 tons, deadweight 4,809 tons and as dimensions 315.1 x 46.5 x 21.0 z 8 (light)-20 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulson, one screw, 269 nhp, coal bunker capacity 755 tons, range 2,800 nautical miles/9 knots and speed 9 (normal cruising)-10 (maximum) knots. 

Communist China wanted to built 3 trawlers according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated September 1964 No. 9

An item reported that the Central Trust Corporation of Mainland, Communist China planned accepting bids on 3 September 1964 for building 3-1,000 ton trawlers to be operated in the Yellow Sea. Their hope was that the vessels could be built in Japan.
