Russian tanker Aktyubinsk 1968-1997 (Natasha 1997-2002, Moroni 2002)

Call sign UTRD, IMO 6726307, Russia-flagged and homeport Vladivostok. Built by by Rauma-Repola O/Y, Rauma, Finland in 1968. Last known flag was Comoros. As Natasha Belize-flagged, homeport Belize City. Disposed at Alang, India on 27 March 2020 to be broken up.

Part of a group consisting of the Altaj, Aktau, Amgun, Aktubinsk, Aykhal, Rauma, Adygeni, Anakliya, Aynazhi, Kola, Izkora, Khersones, Akhaltsikhe, Yugansk, Ararat, Ayon, Omsk, Autse, Biryuza Antares, Zugdidim Auseklis, Zhalgiris, Abava, Prut, Svrgutnef, Anyuy, Neftegoresk, Tarkhankut, Ilim, Aspindza, Dabrecen, Neftekamsk, Sakhalinneft, Sibirneft and Rumbula. The Project 160 or called by the NATO the Altay-class consisted of the Kola, Elnya, Egorlyk, Izhora, Prut and Ilim. General technical characteristics of the Altay, the details differs from ship to ship. Kuwait-flagged as the Al Tahreer. As the Tahreer Comoros-flagged, callsign D6FQ5.. IMO 9016868. Delivered May 1992 by Hyunday Heavy Industry.Co.Ltd. Ulsan, South Korea with yard number 749. Broken up at Gadani, Pakistan in 2010. Gross tonnage 149.710 tons, net tonnage 149.719 tons, deadweight 284.532 tons and as dimensions 310,00-322,05 (over all) x 56,03 x 21,60 x 31,40 (depth)metres. Speed 14,60 knots. Ex-Al Tahreer renamed March 2010. Owned by the Kuwait Oil Tanker Co., S.A.K.

Kuwaiti crude oil tanker Kazimah 1982-1987 (Townsend 1987-1989, Kazimah 1989-2006, Tiara 2006-2008, BW Ara 2008-2012 and Lara-I 2012)

Sistership was the Al Funtas. Built in 1982 by Ishikawajima-Harima, Kure/Tokyo, Japan. IMO 8004351. Summer deadweight of 290.085 tons, gross tonnage 160.010 and as dimensions 336 x 60 x 20,6 metres. Speed 15 knots. Single hull. Ex-Kazimah (renamed 1987), Townsend renamed January 1989, Kazimah renamed November 2006, Tiara renamed September 2008, BW (Bermuda-flagged) Ara renamed February 2012 as the Comoros Islands-flagged Lara 1 (MMSI 310569000). Sold in 2011 at Labuan, Malaysa and broken up at Bangladesh after April 2012.

Built in 1977 by Ailsa Perth Shipbuilders, Troon, United Kingdom as Strongbow, renamed 1981 Kiboko, sold in 2004 by Kenya Port Authorities at Mombassa to Alba Petroleum, Mombassa, Kenya and renamed June 2004 Strongbow again, renamed January 2005 Rhino (Comores-flagged) and renamed January 2006 KMC Rhino. Gross tonnage 391 tons, summer deadweight 315 tons and as dimensions 40 x 11 x 4,9 metres. As the KMC Rhino Tanzania-flagged, IMO 7400948, MMSI 677011200 and callsign 5IM212. Total horsepower 3.520 ahp.

Built in 1982 at the Daewoo Shipbuilding&Marine Engineering shipyard at Goeje, South Korea. With as yard number OKPO 5001. Gross tonnage 77.704 tons, a summer deadweight of 134.089 tons and as dimensions 265,01 x 48,51 x 15,00. Speed 13,0 knots. IMO 8028096 and call sign T2DK3. Ex-Jarena (renamed March 1991), ex-Bergina (Norway-flagged and homeport Gromstad, renamed April 2005) and ex-Ocean Hope (Tuvalu flagged, renamed December 2010?). Presumably broken up in 2010.

Swedish MCM support ship Utö (1973) 1987-2003



Former Smit Manila, former Seaford and former Seaforth Challenger. Built at the shipyard of Drypool, Selby. Commissioned in 1974. With a displacement of 1.100 tons (full load) are the dimensions 55.5 x 12.3 x 4.3 metres or 182.1 x 404.4 x 14.1 feet. Her hp diesel engine supplied via one shaft 5.000 hp allowing a speed of 12 knots/ Her crew numbered 32 men, Armed with 2-2cm Oerlikons, She was a former supply vessel converted by Pan United Limited at Singapore and was decommissioned in April 1989 to replace the Thule.


The website http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/showthread.php?t=36176 said that she was launched on 3 May 1973 at the Seaforth Challenger at the yard of Cochrane Selby (building no. 1548), in October of the same year completed, four years later sold and renamed Seaford, in 1981 again sold becoming the Smit Manila and finally sold in 1989 to become the Utö.

The website http://www.worldshipsocietyrotterdam.nl/nieuwsbrief/nb104.pdf said that the Smit Manila (7319242) of Smith International South East Asia (Pte.) Limited of Nassau-Bahamas. Was build by the Drypool Group Limited which explored the Cochrane Shipyard at Selby. She was sold in 1987 to the Swedish navy. On 9 December 2003 registered as the Zakher Moon with as owner Zakher Marine of Abu Dhabi, Comoros-flagged and managed by Zakher Marine Oilfield of Abu Dhabi.

The colored drawing is found in the Dutch family archive Van den Broek and can be dated while compared with other drawings around 1810-1812. The artist is unknown.

Archive Family Van den Broek no. 195 (Regionaal Archief Rivierenland, Tiel). The drawing probably belonged originally to Adriaan van der Hoop, an art collector and who made several journeys abroad in the period 1802-1812. The preachers family Van den Broek's were related to the family Van der Hoop.
