Portuguese naval division bound for training voyage along African coast starting October 1924

The American Foreign Service Legation Lisbon, Portugal wrote on 7 September 1924 No. 55 that a Portugese naval division consisting of 1 cruiser, 3 gunboats and a collier would depart from Lisbon in mid October for a voyage around Africa and to cover about 10,000 miles in 7 months time. To be visited were Madeira, Cape Verde Islands and Saint Thomas and Principe and several Portuguese and foreign harbours on the African mainland. At Funcal was a wireless station to be established able to reach Lisbon via continous wave principle. The voyage was to train officers and men on board and was financed by temporarily laying up several other warships with just skeleton crews.

Built by Forbes, Sandhaven, Fraserburgh, Scotland of wood as a pair-trawler in 1985, dimensions 23.50 x 7 x 3.53 metres. In 2022 was reported that she was almost certainly sold by a Dutch owner towards Sao Tomé and Principe; apparently cancelled.

Portuguese gunboat Ave sent to Dahomey according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 4 September 1883

An item reported that the king of Dahomey (1) believing that Portugal intended to hand over part of the coast to England immediately ordered to imprison the Portuguese commanding officer and the soldiers of Whydah fortress.(2) Vice admiral Teixeira da Silva (3), governor of St. Thome (4) sent the gunboat Ave (5) to make clear that the rumours were false and the military were released.

Patrol boat Falcao of Sao Tome and Principe 1992->2003

Handed over by the USA on 11 January 1992. Of the aluminium constructed US 2810V-Protector class patrol boats with as dimensions 8,69 x 3,56 x 0,56 metres. Speed maximum 38 knots. Her crew numbered 4 men. The armament consisted of just small arms.
