Russian navy screw steam launch in 1869

The Engineer dated 19 February 1869, p. 136

The launches were attached to ironclads lying in Cronstadt and were made of iron fitted with air-boxes at each end with the option to add more air-boxes under the seats. Dimensions 35 x 6.3 x 2.6 (dra
ught aft)-1.3 (draught fore) feet. The vertical boiler had Field's tubes and the single engine supplied at 300 rpm 85 lb steam allowing a speed of around 7.5 knots. While engine and boiler were attached to each other it was possible to replace the propulsion at once. Weight engine+boiler was 17.5 cwt and the weight of a complete boat was 32.5 cwt.

The Engineer dated 8 January 1869, p.33

In the edition of 5 March 1869 was a short description of the engines which were to become the standard for the 33 feet steam launches and constructed by the engineers Claparéde and Commartin. Total weight of boiler and engine 2 tons 7 cwt. Boilers made of steel, horizontal, with cylindrical internal fire-boxes and 42 flue-tubes.

North Vietnamese naval strength according to the Australia Station Intelligence Summary dated 1 September 1956

An item reported that the North Vietnamese or Vietminh navy possessed around 30 motor launches and a strength of 2,000 men, part of them trained in the past by the French. The navy patrolled in the Red River delta and along the coast as far as the 17th parallel.

Patrol service of North Vietnamese navy according to the Australia Station Intelligence Summary dated 8 May 1957

An item reported that the North Vietnamese navy possessed 4 patrol units each consisting of 1 patrol vessel and 10 armed motor launches with the main intercepting refugees who wanted to escape to South Vietnam. Patrol areas were Mon Cay-Hongay, Hongay-Do Son, Do Son-Sam Son and Sam Son-Ben Thuy.

Hungary allowed by Allies to have some small vessels for police tasks in the Danube according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 41 dated 15 October 1921

An item reported that at the Conference of Ambassadors the recommendation of the Commission of Control was accepted to allow Hungary for police tasks on the Danube and tributaries 8 patrol boats, 2 large and 10 smaller motor launches.

The Yugoslavian naval power launches according to a CIA report dated 14 January 1947

An item reported that the Yugoslavian navy possessed several power launches. The Potes, Jaki and Kralievic Marko had a tonnage of 370 tons, were built in 1915 and with a speed of 15 knots. The former American P.T. No. 8 with a tonnage of 45 tons was much faster with a speed of 46-48 knots. Her armament consisted of 1-4cm machinegun, 2-2cm machine guns and 2-12mm machine guns.

Tests with folding boats executed at navy yard at Willemsoord, Netherlands in 1882

At the navy yard at Willemsoord, Netherlands were tests executed with some so-called folding launches of the Berthon design and which were bought in England. The decision was to build vessels of this kind by Dutch navy shipyards. (1)

An item reported that the Spanish navy consisted of 3 ships of the line, 5 frigates, 6 corvettes, 25 brigs and schooners, 27 steamboats, 45 launches and 75 smaller vessels, totally 186 units.
