An announcement reported the auction on Monday 2 October in the Hopzak, Leeuwarden of 4 1/64 shares in the Greenland whaler de Wildschut commandeur Pyter Gerbens bookkeeper Allert Scheltinga, Harlingen, Netherlands. 

Deed of chartering for Dutch Greenland whaler de Vier Heemskinderen in 1662

Deed of chartering dated 21 March 1662 by merchant Jean Weymans with merchant and owner Elcken Reynders of Harlingen for the ship de Vier Heemskinderen of 150 last for a whaling voyage to Greenland afterwards to return to Rotterdam to be unloaded payment 3,200 guilders.

Dutch Greenland commandeur Jurrian de Jong returned home according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamse courant dated 7 August 1770

An item dated Harlingen, Netherlands 26 July reported the arrival in the morning of 25 July of commandeur Jurrian de Jong returning from the Greenland seal hunting who caught 2,800 seals or 101 and some small parts blubber en who stated that the catch results of the whalers were worse, he spoke early July several ships still being empty.

First catch results of Dutch Greenland sealer Maasstroom promising according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsche courant dated 8 June 1826

In an announcement stated the board of the Maatschappij voor de Walvischvangst situated at Rotterdam, Netherlands that she received a tiding of commandeur Adriaan arrived at Harlingen, Netherlands who was informed on 11 April by commandeur Douwe Janse Cupido who departed on 9th March with the Maasstroom to Greenland that everything was well on board and already had a catch of 2.400 seals. The board want to inform her shareholders with this announcement with the hope that the Maasstroom would return with a very blessed catch. 

Just moderate results of Dutch seal hunters according to the Dutch news[a[er Het Amsterdamsch handels- en effectenblad dated 23 November 1863

An item referred to the annual account for 1862 with the results of the Dutch ocean fishing. The two ships fitted out at Harlingen, Netherlands achieved just moderate results. The Noordpool of the firm Zeilmaker&Co, had a catch of 3.462 seals or 5.22,5 barrels oil resulting in ƒ 28.700. The Dirkje Adema fitted out by the firm Barend Visser&Zn. had a catch of 3.000 seals.

Dutch Greenland whalers returning home according to the Dutch newspaper Oprechte Haerlemsche courant dated 9 August 1671

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 7 August reported the arrival a day earlier of a Greenland whaler which caught 15 whales. At Harlingen, Netherlands seemed to arrive a whaler with 10 whales. 

Dutch Greenland seal hunter Nederland returned according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche staatscourant dated 7 June 1826

An item dated Harlingen, Netherlands 3^rd reported the arrival that day of the Dutch pink Nederland commandeur Jacob Adriaan returning from Greenland with a catch of 1.990 seals. She was forced to return due to continue storms and bad weather causing a leaking ship. She was fitted out by the Nederlandsche Groenlands- en Straat Davis-Visscherij -Societeit.

Dutch Greenland whaler Spitsbergen departed according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche staatscourant dated 29 April 1822

An item dated Harlingen, Netherlands 13th reported the departure that day of the Dutch brig ship Spitsbergen commandeur Willem Rab fitted out by Barend Visser&Zoon as a whaler for Greenland. It was 50-60 years ago that for the last time whalers were fitted out at Harlingen and of major importance for the economy.
