German increasing naval tonnage according to the Dutch newspaper De Indische Courant dated 20 April 1935

An item reported that Germany demanded to have a navy with a total tonnage of 400.000 tons. In 1914 she had 34 cruisers while the Treaty of Versailles allowed just twelve and which number now probably was increased with another six units. Before the war (First World War) possessed Germany 231 torpedo boats and submarines while now just 24 units were allowed although probably to be multiplied with factor 5.
