Spanish navy manoeuvres according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland: staat- en letterkundig nieuwsblad morning edition dated 16 August 1941

In the presence of general Franco and minister of navy admiral Moreno were last Thursday [14 August] manoeuvres at a large scale of the Spanish fleet off La Coruna. The Caudillo and the minister went on board of the flagship Canarias where they were received by the commanding officer admiral Basterreche. Shortly afterwards entered the main part of the Spanish fleet the harbour. After a short tribute to Franco departed the fleet the harbour and begun the manoeuvres. The flagship of the Spanish navy the cruiser Canarias was the newest heavy unit of the Spanish fleet. She had a displacement of 10,000 tons and had a main armament of 8-20,3cm guns. Franco was enthusiastic received by large public when he returned at La Coruna on board of the Canarias.
