The Bulgarian torpedo boats according to a CIA report dated 13 November 1952


An item reported that the Bulgarian navy numbered four in 1907 by Schneider, Chalon sur Saone, France built torpedo boats namely the Khrabri, Strogi, Durzki and Smeli, the latter being damaged and destroyed. All boats were fitted out with dredging apparatus. Displacement 100 tons and as dimensions 39 x 4,1 x 2,6 metres. The 2.000hp reciprocal engine and one screw allowed a speed of 20 knots. Crew numbered 23 men. Armament consisted of 4-4,7cm guns, 2-45cm torpedo tubes, 2-3,4cm machineguns and 2 depth charge launchers.(1)

1. This must be the Drazki-class consisting of the Drazki, Smeli, Hrabri, Shumni, Letyashi and Strogi built with French support and material between 1907-1908 at the Varna Shipyard, Varna, Bulgaria. Displacement 97 tons and as dimensions 37,80 x 4,27 x 1,38 metres or 124.0 x 14.0 x 4.6 feet.
