Enemy submarine sighted near Scotch Cape, Alaska according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee daily summary dated 31 May 1942

An item reported that an American USN aircraft sighted on 29 May a submarine around 14 miles south south east of Scotch Cape/south west tip of Unimak Island, Alaska. The submarine which was believed to Japanese but dived before the aircraft could attack her.
