Japanese screw steam cargo ship Sirogane Maru or Shirogane Maru 1938-1945

Laid down by Harima S.B.&Eng. Co. Ltd., Harima, Japan for Nippon Kaiun K.K., Tokyo, Japan on 23 July 1938, launched on 31 October 1938, requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy on 25 January 1940, torpedoed by the American submarine USS Amberjack (SS-219) around 11 miles east of Lulai Point, Bougainville om 19 September 1942. grounded at Buin on 20 September 1942, abandoned on 27 September 1942 and stricken from the navy list on 30 June 1945. Armament consisted of 1-8cm/40 Type 88 gun an 1-7,7mm Type 92 machine gun. Dimensions 318.2 (waterline)-333 (over all) x 45.9 x 24.6 feet. Speed 11 (cruising)-13 (maximum) knots.
